DIGITAL CYMBAL CHOKE
(self powered by the modual 'Roland types')
So why invent this type of choke?.....
First off ...it kicks the arse of all the other choke switches!!!
eg:Faster,Natural
and you dont have to grab the cymbal like 'King Kong' and hope for the best :)
.....certain makes of cymbal will feel like a house brick after
trying the Digital touch switch....the digital choke is a super light touch device.
So...basic info
Electronic cymbals with choke switches are commonly constructed using
membrane switches specially designed to follow the curved cercumfrence of the electronic cymbal and switching activated by
a 'Very' firm grab action from the musician
Membrane switches used in this situation are prone to wear and tear
over time that can eventually change the characteristics of the 'switching gap' leading to poor operation.
Membrane type switch cymbal chokes can also un intentionally momentarily
switch to a closed position while deformed as in the case of the body of the electronic cymbal bending !...some sell this
fault as a added bonus? .hmm
This situation results inappropriate sounds being produced that the
musician did not intend to use in the performance.
Using a touch plate configuration removes any
possibly of false switching due to flexing and bending of the switch while mounted as part of an electronic cymbal device.
The electronic touch activated cymbal choke switch is a solid state
circuit with the advantage of having no moving parts so does not suffer from the flexing problems associated with membrane
switches or switches that involve moving parts.
SUMMARY
The touch plate configuration removes any possibly of false switching
due to flexing and bending while mounted as part of an electronic cymbal structure.
A solid state circuit with the advantage of having no moving parts.
A
solid state touch switching remains consistent for the life of device.
